THERAPEUTIC RIDING PROGRAM FOR
THE
PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY IMPAIRED
We serve individuals with physical and mental handicaps, such as Cerebral Palsy, Down’s syndrome, autism, muscular dystrophy,
spina bifida, spinal cord injuries, learning disabilities, multiple sclerosis, visual and hearing impairments, to mention a few.
We are a happy to be small facility, which means we can
work on a one to one basis, or two to one basis. We tailor each session to meet
a particular child's needs.
We screen our applicants prior to acceptance into the program to be sure we know each child's abilities and limits.
We want to be sure we can safely accommodate each individual. Children who are wheelchair bound must be light enough to be lifted on the ponies back.
We do have a ramp being built, however, unfortunately, at this time we are not wheelchair accessible for adults and larger children.
We do not have the proper equipment to mount person safely onto a horse from the ground.
Therapeutic riding must have a physician’s written approval.
We work closely with a client’s doctors, Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists to tailor just the right program.
Therapeutic riding has long been proven to help the impaired with balance, strengthening of muscles, co-ordination, focus and over fitness.
The real
advantages are the enjoyment of riding
(over routine PT) and the tremendous sense of accomplishment.
Located just 30 minutes from downtown Ann Arbor on a gorgeous 18 acre horse ranch,
we are easily accessible from many metro-Detroit areas. From many locations we are at most a 40 minute drive.
